Dr Karen Du Preez

Graduated from UCT Medical school in 1998. After her internship and community service and working in the UK she came home to work at the Red Cross Children’s Hospital (first as SHO then registrar) for two and a half years. Dr. Du Preez then moved to trauma as a Casualty Officer at a Private Hospital for a year before doing a brief stint as a ship surgeon on the RMS St Helena. She started as one of the original doctors’ at Intercare Blaauwberg in 2004 and has been a valuable part of the team since then. She has always enjoyed sports, particularly running but has recently turned to Triathlon and has completed a few Ironman 70.3 events ( two of which international). She loves animals, reading and traveling.

Dr Conrad De Klerk

Dr de Klerk (MBBCh) graduated from Wits University in 1993, after which he worked in the UK for 5 years in Psychiatry, Casualty and Oncology hospital departments. He has a keen interest in the emotional wellbeing of people as this is often overlooked and undertreated, and is well versed in treating depression and anxiety disorders. Tennis, road running and mountain biking are his after-hour interests and he likes guitaring and singing.

Dr Paul Nel graduated from the University of Witwatersrand in 2010 and joined the Intercare group in May 2016. He completed a diploma in child health from the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa in 2017.

Dr Milan van Veenhuyzen (MBChB) graduated cum laude from the University of Pretoria in 2021 and obtained his Diploma in HIV Management in 2024. Dr van Veenhuyzen completed his internship at Potchefstroom Hospital and community service at Andries Vosloo Hospital. He has a special interest in internal and family medicine, although he enjoys all areas of medicine. In his free time, he likes to spend time with his family and pets, as well as playing squash.

Dr Lourens Viljoen

Dr Lourens Viljoen earned his MBChB from the University of Pretoria in 2007. In 2011, he relocated to Canada, where he practised for over a decade across a broad spectrum of medical disciplines, including primary care, hospital medicine, obstetrics, geriatrics, and palliative care. In 2015, he received Certification from the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CCFP) and was appointed as a Clinical Instructor at the University of British Columbia, where he trained Family Practice Residents in both Obstetrics and Family Medicine. In 2022, Dr Viljoen returned to South Africa, where he now focuses on providing compassionate, patient-centred care. Outside of his medical practice, Dr Viljoen is an avid runner and cherishes time with his wife and their five children.
