But how many of us approach our sexual health in the same way? Taking care of your sexual health is just as important for overall wellbeing as the regular dental check-up or cholesterol screening.

The Centre for Sexual Health at Intercare Silver Lakes was established to address the following three aspects of sexual health:

• Sexual health check-ups
• Treatment of sexual dysfunction
• Management of sexually transmitted infections (STI’s) including HIV/Aids
  

The aim of the clinic is to help couples to have mutually satisfying and responsible intimate relationships.

What we can offer towards improved sexual health:

For women:

• General health check-ups
• Pap-smears
• Contraception: including the Pill, injections, patches and the Mirena
• Fertility advice and pre-pregnancy screening
• Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) screening and treatment
• Vaccination to prevent STIs and certain cancers
• Pre and Post Exposure prophylaxis after high risk contacts or condom breakage
• Menopause management including symptomatic relief, hormone replacement, screening conditions like osteoporosis and breast cancer
• Low libido/sex drive
• Problems with orgasm
• Pain during sex or in the genital area
• Vaginismus
• Sex addiction
• Hypersexuality
• Sexual aversion,
• Multiple Sclerosis (MS) related sexual dysfunction,
• Disabilities and concerns about sexual function and dysfunction
• LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) medical services
• Premarital sex counseling
• Any other problem relating to sexual intimacy

For men:

• General health check-ups
• Sexually transmitted Infections (STIs) screening and treatment
• Vaccination to prevent STIs and certain cancers
• Pre and Post Exposure prophylaxis after high risk contacts or condom breakage
• Prostate and testicular examinations
• Andropause management (decreased levels of testosterone in the aging male, resulting in health risks)
• Erectile Dysfunction (ED)
• Premature Ejaculation (PE)
• Delayed Ejaculation
• Low libido/sex drive
• Problems with orgasm
• Pain during sex or in the genital area
• Sex addiction
• Hypersexuality
• Sexual aversion
• Post-prostatectomy patients with sexual dysfunction,
• Multiple Sclerosis (MS) related sexual dysfunction
• Disabilities and concerns about sexual function and dysfunction
• LBGT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) medical services
• MSM (men who have sex with men) medical services
• Premarital sex counseling
• Any other problem relating to sexual intimacy
  

HIV/AIDS:

HIV counseling: for any person who is affected by HIV and who would like to discuss this with a health care provider, please make an appointment with our HIV nurse (R100) or with Dr Elna Rudolph (GP Consultation)

HIV testing: For pre and post test counseling, an HIV test and a CD4 count if the HIV is positive, please book an appointment with the HIV nurse (R100, including tests)

HIV treatment: For private patients and medical aid patients. HIV treatment is offered at this centre according to the highest standards. We realize that HIV does not only affect a person’s immunity, but their whole life. We treat each patient individually and holistically according to the latest guidelines and research.
