The Intercare Centre for Lifestyle Management focuses on the prevention and management of chronic diseases. Having a chronic disease need not be a death sentence. With the help of our specialized health team you can manage your condition and add quality to your life.

CDE (Centre for Diabetes and Endocrinology) benefits
If you have diabetes and are on a medical aid that is affiliated with the CDE you can join this special program. With no extra cost over and above your usual monthly contribution to the medical aid, you will be able to receive the following comprehensive management package on an annual basis:
- Two consultations with a doctor with specialised training in diabetes management.
- Full diabetes education and regular contact with the diabetes nurse educator.
- Nutrition consultation with a registered dietician
- Consultation with a podiatrist
- Consultation with an ophthalmologist
- Laboratory tests twice per year for diabetes monitoring and management
- All diabetes medication, including insulin, diabetes tablets, needles, test strips and the supply of blood glucose meters
- 24 hour help line for diabetic emergencies.
Good diabetes management reduces the short and long-term costs of diabetes treatment and care, the incidents for diabetic complications and consequent hospitalisation. Certain contracted medical aids are able to offer you this package.
You can phone us to find out if your medical aid and the option you are on are eligible for CDE.
Consultation fees:
CDE program: No extra charge over an above your usual monthly medical aid contribution.
Non-CDE programs:
First consultation: R220
An hour session including A-Z education, educational material, blood glucose meter (for diabetic patients)
and assistance with registration and motivation for chronic illnesses and medication with your medical aid.
Follow-up consultation:
30 minutes
R130
The payment is settled by the patient after the consultation. Some of the medical aids do pay for education and in those instances, the patient can claim the amount back from the applicable medical aid.
Corporate wellness days: Fees can be negotiated depending on the services required.
